Beyond

The young heart wakes earnestly to the day ahead.  The troubles, hardship and miles of rough country have not yet been familiarized by the curious heart.  Rising into mystery and awe, beauty with splendor the young heart takes the day as it presents itself, honest and true.  Soon enough the wonder of the day ahead makes the journey from heart to mind and forms focus around the question, what are we doing today dad?  The seasoned and alluring warrior resting in resolve turns to acknowledge his son’s devotion, greeting with a warm smile and eyes of fire answers the young hearts question. The ever so brief moment where the heart of the elder reaches to the heart of the younger through the gateway of the eyes.  This substance of being known is more truly the answer the young  heart is seeking.  The father knows this and with overflowing joy offers his authentic presence to his son.  After the real has been engaged, the father too enters the boy’s question, for the father knows also the power of mystery and the love of invitation. Turning his fire eyes back to the expanse ahead, he frees his voice to echo, “beyond.”
